Federal Per Diem Rates Increase & Decrease

Per Diem Rates reset every fiscal year for the federal government which occurs on October 1st.  Throughout the year, the GSA travels throughout the continental United States (CONUS) to canvas average lodging rates in order to determine the average per diem lodging rate for a given location.  A federal per diem rate increase and decrease is determined and can be set for the entire year, or it can be split into travel seasons for peak or off peak times throughout the year when there is a noticeable increase or decrease in volume of travel.
